>Hillingdon CC circuit race

>Wet race!

It was a cold and stormy night. There was some lashing rain during the warm up, but the race itself was merely damp. There was a smaller field than usual. Everyone there seemed determined to get away and the bunch soon whittled down to 15-20 riders. In the last few miles a big attack split the bunch in two. One by one people tried to bridge across from the back group, but my legs wouldn’t do it. Soon there was only five of us and the game was up. When the E123 passed us two of the guys jumped on and now there were only three of us. I was tailed off in the final sprint with a slow puncture in the back wheel. I ended up twelfth I think.

It was slowish, but a proper race full of attacks.

Race stats: Race distance: 20.87 miles, time: 54:13 (23.1mph average speed). 12th of ? finishers. Top speed: 28.1mph. Fastest mile: 2:23 (25.2mph – mile 11), slowest mile: 2:49 (21.3mph – mile 19). Average HR: 158bpm, maximum HR: 168bpm. Winner: Marcel Six
